Floor Drain Clogged
Why do floor drains clog? well, why do we get sick? Why do we have to repair our vehicles? Why does anything happen?
Floor drains are subject for maintenance and repair just like anything else. You think just cause you can’t see something underground it should be perfect? Well think twice about that. Underground is a whole other world of broken pipes that we typically find out the hard way. You might ask yourself when? But, it’s not “when” it’s when your least expecting it and then your house floods and your in a panic.
Why do floor drains start to run slow?
Do you use your kitchen sink? Do you use your laundry tubs and washing machine? Does food, grease, lint, build-up and all other sorts of gunk get down your drains? Do bugs live in your drains? Does scum just grow? Do drain lines clog themselves?
If you’re using your kitchen sink from time to time, no matter how careful you may be, your drains will clog. It’s one of the inevitable’s of life. Just like we can’t stop the aging process no matter what we do. As for your laundry, there is so much soap, lint, detergent and dirt going down your drains constantly. Which clog you floor drains and any other drains in it’s path.
Why do floor drains not drain properly?
Once some debris gets down your drains, build up will start happening instantly. All it takes is one bend in the pipe to get clogged up partially.
Why have I been living in my house for years and just now we start having issues?
Clogged drains have nothing to do with why haven’t they clogged before. Pipes move and shift all the time especially as they age and as the ground settles over a period of time.

Changing Toilets
Toilets have changed gallon they flush in the last several years. Older toilet are better for not getting clogged due to more water flushing. Less water flushing simply equals more chance of clogged a toilet. Low flow toilets don’t just clog up your toilet more but it also can clog branch drain lines and sanitary main sewer lines. The reason is simply, they flush less water.
What can you do to make sure your low flow toilet doesn’t clog as often. Number one you might have to flush a couple times while in the bathroom. Number two, use less toilet paper, and lastly use thinner toilet paper. Clients who own cabins and are on septic tanks use septic safe toilet paper. I’ve been in lots of cabins that also use low flow toilets. If you are one that ends up clogging your toilet often and you find yourself plunging time after time maybe consider buying and investing in a power flush toilet. The toilet flushes less water but uses power behind it and give it a boost.
Please if you have questions about low flow toilets or want a power flush toilet installed call us today!
Why are sewer clean-outs so tight to work with?
Having enough room to work on a sewer line is extremely important. Especially to get the job done properly. Tree roots are not easy to remove from sewer lines with limited space to work in. Running sewer lines over 100ft. are also challenging if working in a small tight space.
Don’t cover up clean-outs and make sure that access panels are much bigger meaning wider then the one in the picture below.
Are Gas Prices Becoming Our Worst Enemy?
Companies have never charged trip charges until recently with gas prices rocketing sky high. Service companies that come out to your home carry lots of inventory with them. These service man typically need either a truck or van to hold all of the supplies. Driving has now become an additional expense. Not just a little expense, but a major increase.
Our company still has little to no trip charges.
Other companies are charging anywhere from $25-$69.00 to just come out and determine what the problem is. They will then write up an estimate required to complete the plumbing job.
What people need to understand is that paying $5-$10 for a company to come out on top of the work performed is fine. It’s understandable to pay for a truck to come out to your home with gas prices hitting over $4/gallon. Stay away from companies that are making a living on just coming out and saying hi. These companies will end up giving you an extremely high price to perform the work as well. When all said and done you’ll end up spending 3 times the amount our company charges.
Hire a smaller local company that has been around for over 37 years and is known for giving clients good deals.
Have you ever experienced a company that has taken advantage of you? Write back to us, we’d enjoy hearing your story.
