Toilet + Clog + Doesn’t Drain

Commercial toilets seem to be the most powerful in the industry but that doesn’t mean you can’t have one at your own house. Power flush toilets can either be a Sloan or Zurn flushing toilets or a true air + water flushing toilets. Power toilets are louder but they don’t clog up that often like your own residential gravity flushing toilet.
Years ago 3.6 gallon flushing toilets went to 1.6 gallon flushing toilets. Yes, they sell toilets flush 2 gallons less water. So naturally they clog and block up more then back in the day. What I find even more interested is that on top of having only 1/6 gallons of water to flush they also sell toilets that are called power saver toilets. Power saver toilets are toilets that flush only half or less of the 1.6 gallons.
There are still good flushing gravity flushing toilets out there to purchase but you’ll easily spend over $250 for a toilet. Be careful and treat your toilet with respect. It’s not cheap to replace a new one.

Never cover up clean-outs
STOP COVERING UP YOUR CLEAN OUTS.
The worst possible mistake is to cover up your clean-outs to access drains. Main sewer openings in basements are being covered up with carpet, tile and who knows what else. People are forgetting that these lines need to be cleaned out from time to time. Installing a clean-out access panel to hide the pipe is the way to go. Without a clean-out to clean your pipe the job will either take longer or not get done the proper way. Don’t wasting your money and be smart before covering over a stack clean-out in the wall or anywhere for that matter.

How smart are “smart cars”
Don’t think for a second by owning a smart car your in the clear. There are always pro’s and con’s to everything you purchase in life. Just make sure when buying a smart car the pro’s outweigh the con’s. Let’s dive in a take a look at some of the benefits to the smart car. Not only does a smart car get 40 mpg, but is also environmentally friendly as well. Did you know what 95% of the vehicle is recyclable materials from construction. Smart cars are so tiny they can basically park anywhere. The smart car is only nine feet long. That’s two feet shorter then the Mini Cooper. The car is so small they even found room to fit four airbags inside.
Now let’s go over some of the con’s. One of the biggest issue to owning a smart car is the limited space. If this car is your only dependent car that could be a problem at times. When moving items from one location to another your may have to rent a truck or count on a friend. The smart car is so small that it makes it hard for other vehicles to see you on the road. Cause it’s smaller it may be able to maneuver out of an accident that an SUV or truck couldn’t avoid. Cruise control unfortunately doesn’t come equipped in smart cars, yet. How smart is a smart car when family can’t drive together? If you plan on going on a road trip or even out to dinner a smart car won’t get you all their together.
Personally, I hope one day they invent the “Smart truck”, in the near future of course.

Frost-free sillcock
Frost-free sillcocks are designed that the shut-off valve is located about 8 to 12 inches inside the sillcock pipe. This puts the water line inside the house. The further the sillcock reaches inside the heated walls, the lower the chance of a bursting pipe. When going to replace a leaky or broken sillcock most people install a frost-free. The frost free sillcock makes it so the water gets turned off inside the home and then can be drained on the outside. Purchasing a frost free faucet can be anywhere from $30-$65 and up. If your going through the trouble of having an exterior faucet leak on a hose bib (sillcock) replaced make sure you spend the extra money and install a frost-free style if you have room for the thicker pipe.
